Spring Tea & Fashion Trends

How can it be the end of April already?!?

Earlier this month, we had a spring tea social at the office.
I brought in my Sadler basket weave mugs, while my co-workers brought in these tasty treats.

At a recent visit to the local museum, I spotted this display of milk jugs and creamers. I prefer to drink my tea black so I usually only use creamers when I'm serving tea to others.

The museum also had an exhibit called "Fashion to the Future" which featured fashion trends from the 1960s to the 2000s.

Blast from the past: 1970s (top) and 1980s (bottom)

Did you ever follow these fashion trends?

Tea Time for the Birds

This week I'm sharing bird-themed tea sets that were gifted to me over the years.

"Song Bird" by Amici

How cute are these decorative teapot, sugar and creamer?

This unique Peacock tea set came from Teavana.

The beautiful design featured my favourite colours:
purple and turquoise!

The teapot can serve 4-6 cups of tea.

A close-up of the pretty peacock and floral designs.

The porcelain set came with a teapot and 4 matching cups and saucers.

My second peacock teapot is a vintage Sadler teapot that I found at a thrift store last year.

Do you watch for tea sets with bird designs?

Tea-themed Artwork

At the beginning of April, I attended the free preview of our local Annual Art Action. My wallet couldn't compete with the other bidders, but I was able to photograph the tea-themed artwork!

How cute are these miniature teapots?

"Yellow Teapot"

"Where's the Teacup?"

"Orange Pekoe"
This was the only painting that included a teacup (in the Avon shape).

"Rainbow in a Teapot"
This was my favourite piece.

I also photographed the floral paintings that caught my eye.

Maybe one day, I'll bid successfully on an item at the auction!

A Visit to T by Daniel's New Store

I first encountered T by Daniel at the 2015 Toronto Tea Festival. The energetic and stylish co-founder, Daniel, had one of the busiest booths at the festival.

The little tea shop from Brampton, Ontario recently relocated to the Bramalea City Centre Mall. A few weeks ago, I visited the new store. It was quite busy so I only captured a few images.

The Flavour Station

Daniel is known for serving tea in a stylish bowtie.

My free cup of delicious ginger peach snowcone white tea.
The cute name, "Magical Smile Margie", was a nice touch!

In 2017, the co-founders, Daniel and his wife Renata, had the great honour of serving tea to Prince Charles during his Canada 150 Royal Tour. The special edition royal blend, "Polo with the Prince", was created to celebrate this historic occasion for T by Daniel.

"Polo with the Prince" was a tasty blend of black tea, strawberries and lemon.

I also got the new royal blend, When Harry Met Megan, which I'll feature in a May post!

'Cause You've Got Personali-tea!

Last month, Starbucks introduced a new line of Teavana Tea Lattes:
"Premium whole-leaf microground tea is lightly sweetened with cane sugar and your choice of steamed milk for a complex tea flavour and a light, creamy finish."

I tried the Blooming Rose Tea Latte, a pleasant blend of rooibos, rose, rhubarb and strawberry flavours.

At my next visit, I used my free drink reward for a frappucino version of the Blooming Rose Tea Latte. It was quite good and the other baristas were impressed by my creative drink order. HA!

A friend sent me Starbucks' Personali-tea quiz and my result was...

I'm not sure about being a "wild thing" (unless they mean wild about tea?!?), but I am a daydreamer!
